From the studio

The beauty of contemporary line and color.

Color can evoke a mood.  It provokes questions that don't always have answers.  It can take over the space it consumes, even define your personality.

Color has no rules, but it does have a theory. When those theories are explored and put to the test, the most beautiful color stories can be discovered.

COMMISSIONS

Welcome to Sanser Art Studio!

Thank you for your interest in bringing a custom piece of fine art into your collection.  Led by Artist & Founder Moctezuma Cadenas, Sanser Art Studio specializes in creating deeply layered, original physical artworks combining watercolor, fine art inks, acrylic, and mixed media.

Because each custom painting requires immense care, detailed preservation preparation, and dedicated studio hours, only a limited number of private commissions is accepted each quarter. Commissioning a piece is a highly collaborative, rewarding experience where we work together to turn color stories, mood direction, and spatial needs into a timeless, unique physical heirloom.

Review our step-by-step process and guidelines below and submit a formal inquiry to explore a curated collaboration with the studio.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: Is a deposit required to start a commission?

A: Yes. To secure your slot on the studio calendar and cover initial material costs, a 50% non-refundable deposit is required via Zelle before any sketches or consultations begin.  This deposit acts as a booking fee and a project cancellation fee if you choose to terminate the project at any point.

Q: Can I request changes to the artwork while you are painting it?

A: To protect the integrity of delicate mixed-media layers, revisions are structured into the planning phase.  Your fee includes up to two (2) rounds of minor revisions during the initial layout, sketch, and composition phase.  Once permanent paint and ink application has begun on the final paper or canvas, major structural changes cannot be made. Major revisions requested after this point will incur extra fees at the Studio’s standard hourly rate.

Q: Is framing included in the base artistic fee?

A: Framing is not included in the commission price.  However, as part of the Scope of Work & Services, Sanser Art Studio provides comprehensive aesthetic and preservation guidance.  I will suggest the best archival framing practices, matting specs, and display arrangements to suit your home.

Q: Who handles shipping and delivery costs?

A: The Client / Collector is responsible for all shipping, specialized packaging, crating, and transit insurance fees.  These logistical costs are calculated and billed separately from the base artistic fee once the destination is confirmed.  Local studio pickup or hand-delivery options are available for clients within the Southern California area.

Q: Do I own the copyright to my commissioned painting?

A: No.  Sanser Art Studio, LLC retains 100% of the copyright, reproduction, and intellectual property rights under federal and international law.  Your purchase grants you ownership of the unique physical object only.  The artwork may not be copied, digitized, or reproduced for any commercial or non-commercial purpose (such as prints, merchandise, or digital assets) without prior written consent.  You are completely welcome and encouraged to share photos of your piece on personal social media channels, provided the Studio and Artist are credited.

Q: How do I calculate the final total with taxes?

A: All physical artwork sales and commissions are subject to local sales tax.  For residents within Long Beach, California, a combined city and county sales tax rate of 11.0% is applied to the final invoice.
